Customer of the MonthApril

Audrey Dakin

We have so much appreciation for our community, and love to highlight one athlete each month that exemplifies hard work and commitment. Meet Audrey! Audrey challenges her fitness in both her personal and professional life and brings her commitment through the garage doors every workout. From Turtle Trails to PRs, Audrey jumped feet first into our community! Let’s dive into her journey at Terminus a little further, and make sure to give her a high five the next time you see her in the gym!

Q: How long have you been going to Terminus? What changes have you seen in yourself (physically or mentally) since joining?

I’ve been going to Terminus for a little over a year now. I wasn’t in the best place with my fitness journey when I started at Terminus. I was in a place where I wasn’t having fun working out and was demotivated, but over the past year, I can honestly say I enjoy going to the gym again and look forward to it.

Q: How has your journey at Terminus helped you outside the gym?

As a firefighter, fitness is pretty heavily intertwined into the job. Feeling confident in my fitness helps me feel confident in my job. Being at Terminus has been challenging, but in the best ways. I have been able to build on both mental and physical strength.

Q: Who inspires you at the gym, and how do they inspire you?

I have a few athletes that I always check to see how they did on workouts. Kathryn Treuman, mainly cause she’s strong as hell and I hope I can one day squat what she does. I also am inspired by Bryson. He is always able to keep a smile on his face no matter the situation and we can be competitive on certain workouts.

Q: How would you describe what it’s like to be a part of Terminus?

Terminus is just a big family. I have met some really great people here so far and they all just want to help push you. It’s always a nice feeling to know that you’re accepted for wherever you are in your fitness journey.

Q: Tell us about your first day of class at Terminus.

Well, my first day of class had a workout with handstand pushups in it; I hadn’t done one for at least a year prior to that workout. It was challenging for sure, but it hooked me, and I kept coming back.

Q: What is something that we may not know about you?

A little over 5 years ago, my wife and I both quit our jobs to pursue building a tiny house on wheels. It was the first project of that size that either of us had ever attempted. A year and half later, we had a 287 sqft tiny house that we lived in for 5 years.

Q: What are your top 3 memories or proudest moments in CrossFit?

My top moment right now, is recently getting a PR of #140 on my squat snatch. It’s one of my favorite lifts and it’s really fun to see progress. Learning to handstand walk was also a proud moment for me! I have a couple really good memories with the Terminus Turtles trail running club, but running my second ever trail race with them last year was a lot of fun! We are finally getting back into hitting the trails again after a chilly winter and I’m excited for more races.

Q: Moving forward, do you have any short term or long-term goals in the gym?

I have a couple long term strength goals of hitting #300 for a couple lifts and #200 for a few others. Short term, I have a half marathon trail run coming up in a few weeks. I’m also just trying to make sure I get myself into the gym more consistently (let’s go Committed Club!!).
