Customer of the MonthFebruary

Daniel Silva

We have so much appreciation for our community, and love to highlight one athlete each month that exemplifies hard work and commitment. Meet Daniel Silva! Daniel is what’s known as a “silet killer”. Now a dedicated ‘5amer’, he comes to work hard and slays it day after day. Let’s dive into his journey at Terminus a little further, and make sure to give him a high five the next time you see him in the gym!

Q: How long have you been going to Terminus? What changes have you seen in yourself (physically or mentally) since joining?
I have been attending this wonderful establishment since the end of August. I joined after coming off of a CrossFit hiatus and it really showed. It’s been such a humbling journey to build my fitness back up. I think it’s really incredible seeing how resilient we are as human beings. I am dropping weight and learning to love myself more and more.

Q: How has your journey at Terminus helped you outside the gym?
I joined with aspirations of becoming 5 AMer after consistently being an afternooner, and it was a big shift and a major decision to make the switch, but it works better with my schedule. Now I absolutely love waking up early, having my coffee, getting ready, and going to the gym first thing. It has taught me how to plan ahead for the following day. It also sets me up well for the day and centers me as I am no longer tired and rushing into work. I am high on endorphins and full of energy.

Q: Who inspires you at the gym, and how do they inspire you?
If you have never been to a 5 am class, you should try it. Everyone is an absolute savage. I didn’t know everyday people could do the things I have seen. They have shown me what is possible and I want to be like them when I grow up. Shoutout to Carla and her 208 calorie row the other day girl get out of here!

Q: How would you describe what it’s like to be a part of Terminus?
I am really proud to be part of a gym that has people who work hard and play hard. I have never encountered such characters who can make me smile at 5am. If someone didn’t tell a story of how they cut a hole in their car and peed out of it on a road trip one time did you really go to CrossFit that day?

Q: Tell us about your first day of class at Terminus.
I guess technically my first class was when I did a drop in to see if I liked it and was gaging the early wake up call. It was Friday, July 5th at 5 am and there were only 2 other people who showed up (Glo and Andrew). Grant was the coach and if I’m not mistaken we did some back squats for strength and then a metcon of front squats and double unders. Solid morning.

Q: What is something that we may not know about you?
My junior year of high school I rapped Look At Me Now by Chris Brown (clean of course) for a school talent show and I LOST.

Q: What are your top 3 memories or proudest moments in CrossFit?
1. Making Quarterfinals in 2024 (RIP)
2. My 4:31 Fran. Surprisingly it didn’t hurt that bad.
3. Going sub 9 in 30 ring muscle ups for time (I ripped my hands and had to tend to that in the middle of the WOD, so realistically it was probably like sub 7ish)

Q: Moving forward, do you have any short term or long term goals in the gym?
Right now cleaning up my diet has been my number 1 priority. I absolutely hate cooking so much, but taking small steps to meal prep has been super beneficial. A few gym goals would be 185lb snatch, strict bar muscle up, and get over my loathing of the rower.
