Customer of the MonthJanuary

Allison Berry

We have so much appreciation for our community, and love to highlight one athlete each month that exemplifies hard work and commitment. Meet Allison Berry! Allison is the perfect example of “hard work pays off” from both a physical and mental standpoint. She exemplifies the idea of accomplshing whatever you put your mind to. Let’s dive into her journey at Terminus a little further, and make sure to give her a high five the next time you see her in the gym!

Q: How long have you been going to Terminus? What changes have you seen in yourself (physically or mentally) since joining?
I’ve been doing Crossfit since 2014, but I started at Terminus either around 2018 or early 2019. Took a pause and came back in 2021. Since joining and continuing my Crossfit journey, it has tremendously helped with my mental stamina. My mindset is if I can get up in the morning and get through an intense and “hard” workout, I can accomplish and do anything I put my mind to no matter how trying or difficult it may be.

Q: How has your journey at Terminus helped you outside the gym?
During my Terminus pause, I was recovering from a bad car accident where I was ejected from the vehicle. I spent months in physical therapy and was unable to really workout. However, I give a lot of credit to Terminus and CF because I believe I wouldn’t have recovered as well as I did if I didn’t have that background of physical fitness and endurance. CF really prepares you for life challenges. It essentially helped save and maintain the physical and mental quality of my life.

Q: Who inspires you at the gym, and how do they inspire you?
Arielle, Olga, (although I haven’t seen them in awhile, but I keep them top of mind and always tell them how badass they are. I live “gym vicariously” through them lol.) and shout out to my 7am crew! They inspire me just by showing up, challenging themselves, and simply completing the workout. Oh, and can we talk about Coach Emily? I mean goals on goals.

Q: How would you describe what it’s like to be a part of Terminus?
Terminus offers a great community. Coming to class and having fun with my gym friends and coaches is definitely a great way to start the day. And I love that they tolerate my fan obsession no matter what the temp is outside. Lol.

Q:  Tell us about your first day of class at Terminus.
It’s been so long ago, but I think my first class was with Patrick maybe? He and the class were inviting and made me feel welcomed as I was looking for a new crossfit home and here we are years later :)

Q: What is something that we may not know about you?
I have a great sense of direction and great memory. I can go anywhere once and will never need directions to get there again. Doesn’t even matter the city. In college, they called me “map quest” because I just knew how to get to places never needing a GPS and only been there once.

Q: What are your top 3 memories or proudest moments in CrossFit?
– Selected to be Athlete of the Month! (Momma I made it!!! lol)
– Stringing kipping pull-ups
– Getting to workout with my awesome gym peers

Q: Moving forward, do you have any short term or long term goals in the gym?
I dream of the day when I’m able to do bar muscle-ups and butterfly pull-ups.
