Terminus Dominates On the Field

After a lengthy off-season due to COVID, Terminus is back and better than ever – fielding a championship coed flag football team! The crew, made up of members from all different class times, participated in the Sunday morning Piedmont Park league and took home a championship win together! We’re looking forward to another awesome season in 2023!

Hip Hop = Functional Fitness

Hip Hop is Back! Terminus members took the dance floor with this specialty class – having loads of fun, laughter, and a great workout too!  This event was FREE for Terminus members and their friends!  Our instructor, Mandi Young, came back for the fourth year in a row to challenge our members, and she was a fantastic leader! Here’s to another dance off in 2023!

Terminus Golf Outing

Say What!?! Terminus Golf Outing
When: Saturday October 2nd
Where: Candler Park Golf Course

We will head to Candler Park Golf Course on Saturday, Oct 2nd! Groups of 4 will tee off together and play this “walking only” 9 hole course! We will start at 8am and each group will tee off 9 minutes apart. We will take the ‘best ball’ for each hole to determine a team score at the end of the day! Winning team gets bragging rights! Depending on the number of people who want to play, we imagine everyone will start between 8 and 9am. Please email [email protected] by Monday, Sept 20th if you are down to play! In the email, please note whether you have never played, played less than 10 times, or more than 10 times, and if you own a set of clubs! We will do our best to put together even teams! Terminus will cover the cost of the event.

Fire Recovery Fund for Daisha & Nya

Charity partner workout this Saturday September 18th!

Last weekend there was a massive apartment fire that displaced dozens of families in Southwest Atlanta. Unfortunately, two of our Atlanta leadership club girls were among those who were affected! We’ve been hosting these girls for workouts at Terminus for over a year now, and Daisha (14) and Nya (15) are two of our most consistent attendees. Their families lost everything in the fire!

We would like to do everything we can to help these girls! We will be running a fundraiser workout this Saturday, September 18th in our regular Saturday classes. We encourage you to donate HERE if you would like to help! All donations go directly to Atlanta Leadership Club!

Terminus is proud to announce the addition of a Sunday Yoga class with our very own Britney Kidd!! Unroll your yoga mat for an invigorating full-body flow where you’ll experience a combination of movement, joint training, and stillness that reduces inflammation, strengthens, tones, and settles the mind. Recalibrate all aspects of your physical and mental well-being.
This is a 60 min music-based class: 20 minutes of warming, opening the body, and building internal heat through preparatory postures and breath-to-movement flow. 30 minutes to target your strength, ROM and stability-building power yoga practice. 10 minutes of cool-down postures to compliment and counter your full practice.

Return of the MAC!!!

Congratulations to Sonya McMillan on qualifying for the 2021 CrossFit Games in the 40-44 Master’s division. Sonya has previously qualified in 2013 and 2015 for the Team’s competition. Now it’s her time to shine on the individual stage. Sonya Mac has touched us all, whether as a coach, teammate, training partner, or friend. We all know how hard she has worked to get to Madison as an individual, and our Terminus community stands together to support her dreams.

Check out our well-wishes here!

August 2021 Pull-ympics

We are excited to announce our newest challenge. This challenge will help everyone improve one simple element that is the key to unlocking not only higher level gymnastics movements, but also your weightlifting as well. No surprise here! It’s your upper body pulling strength that needs some work. This challenge will help focus your attention on developing not only your pulling strength, but your endurance as well!

What are the Pull-ympics???
It’s a commitment!
We have 3 different levels available.
Gold level: Complete 1000 Strict Pull-Ups during the month Of August
(this breaks down to roughly 32 pull-ups a day)
Silver Level: Complete 800 Strict Pull-Ups during the month of August
(this breaks down to roughly 24 pull-ups a day)
Bronze Level: Complete 600 Strict Pull-Ups during the month of August
(this breaks down to roughly 19 pull-ups a day)

But I can’t do a pull-up!?!
This challenge is for you! Strict pull-ups can be done with band assistance! By the end of the month we fully expect that with consistency you will finally grab that major milestone with your very first strict pull-up!

How do I join the challenge?
Easy. Send your name and level of commitment to [email protected] by August 1, 2021!

What do I get if I join and complete the challenge?
Primarily you’ll get stronger, better and more fit! No more cherrypicking those pull-up days. But seriously we are offering 3 different small prize packages (one for each level) to incentivize your progress!!!

Anything else I should know?

Yes! Here are the details! Read and reread!

  • You will have 31 days to complete the challenge: Start date is August 1, and the end date is August 31.
  • You must make your commitment by email to Ben no later than 11:59PM on August 1. We will not allow any late entries! Please include your name and level of commitment (Gold, Silver, or Bronze)
  •  Everyone that joins the challenge must keep some type of record or spread sheet. That record should be electronic, and include the date, time, and number of pull-ups completed for each day that you work toward your commitment level goal. We will require an electronic record submitted to Ben at the end of the challenge to claim your prize! We highly recommend keeping a video log via IG, or Facebook to track your progress (although not necessary to redeem your prize).
  • Pull-Ups start from a dead hang and must be strict chin over bar with full range of motion demonstrated throughout movement. See the video for demo! Kipping pull-ups will not be allowed! Bands are allowed!
  • You do not need to complete pull-ups everyday! Rest days are encouraged but realize that you will need to double up for everyday that you miss!
  • If you currently don’t have a strict pull-up, we highly recommend sticking with the bronze level. This will be a much more appropriate volume. Use bands to assist and slowly try to decrease resistance as the challenge goes on. The goal is to grab your first real pull-up by the end of the challenge! Appropriate resistance allows for approx 3-5 reps unbroken (try to avoid making it easy just to get your reps done).
  • The challenge is separate from the daily programming. You can’t count WOD reps toward the monthly total!!!
  • We highly encourage using some type of grip (Victory Grips are the best) to prevent wear and tear on your hands. We also encourage developing a hand and body maintenance routine!
  • Any other questions??? Please send to [email protected]

MORE DETAILS
What?
The challenge is to run 1 mile a day from May 19th to June 18th (31 days = 31 miles). On June 19th we will hold the “Run Against Racism” 10k event (there will also be a 5k alternative available). Our goal is to raise money and awareness for causes that address social injustice, racism, and police brutality. Last year’s challenge raised over $10,000!

Where?
Anywhere! Run at home, or conquer the daily challenge by running before, after or during your daily training. The daily goal is simple: run 1 mile! Then on June 19th join us for our 10k event!

How does it work?

  • All donations will be handled through the Terminus “Run Against Racism” GoFundMe campaigns. We will open 3 separate campaigns to cover each of the 3 charities that we have chosen.
  •  Terminus will create a poster to track your progress throughout the challenge. The poster will contain various boxes to track your pledges, miles, and totals.
  • Gym members will pledge a monetary amount per mile completed (example: 1 dollar per mile). This is your “personal pledge”. Gym members will be encouraged to also post a “penalty pledge” for the days that they don’t complete a mile run.
  • We would also encourage members to ask friends, family, and social media networks to pledge per mile (“donor pledge”) or participate and donate via the GoFundMe account.
  • Every Wednesday we will send out a reminder to submit your donations for the week. Final donations will be collected and wrapped up on Sunday June 20th, 2021.
  • Terminus will choose charities from our communities’ recommendations. We suggest selecting 1 charity to represent for the length of our campaigns. Can’t choose just one? Divide your contributions amongst the other charities!
  • Terminus has pledged a donation match up to $1000.
  • On June 19th, Terminus will hold the Run Against Racism 10K (We will have a 5K option). The miles for this event will be included in your pledges (10k= 6miles/ 5k= 3miles). Friends and family members  are encouraged to attend!
  • All Terminus gym members who complete the challenge (31 days of running + 10K) will receive a free commemorative T-shirt or Tank.
